Both received the Medal of Honor for actions with the Special Forces Operational Detachment Alpha 3336, Special Operations Task Force-33, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan on Bennie Adkins was awarded the Medal of Honor for his service during the Vietnam War. He earned the Medal for his actions in March 1966.
